Cheshire Home Sparks Estate is a registered welfare residential facility providing care for disabled children. Located in the region of Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. The home was established in 1979 to provide care for children from all communities in Durban.

It currently houses 48 children and is licensed for 50 severely mentally & physically disabled children. The staff have been trained by the Department of Education.

Our home participates in Special Stimulation programs. Thanks to the National Lottery distribution fund we now have our very own 15-seater bus, which is modified with a wheelchair hoist. The residents are routinely taken on quarterly excursions to a park or beach. Water therapy is also available to our residents under the professional supervision of trained volunteers. Other outdoor activities such as soccer, arts and crafts plus various other playground facilities are available as stimulation activities. Some received certificates for their performances.

We have a recreation room which is equipped with T.V for viewing stimulating content and we make use of music stimulation during playtime.  Through donations from the National Lottery distribution fund, we have been able to establish an Edu-care Stimulation room, which is used to develop residents’ mental capabilities and improve their cognitive abilities. Our residents are treated to birthday parties and Christmas parties fully sponsored by donors.

Doing the right thing,at the right time.
